The Town of St. James Emergency Management Work Group is established to advise and coordinate with the Town Manager and Town Council on the planning for, mitigation of, response to, and recovery after incidents potentially affecting the Town of St. James and its residents.

St. James Plantation: A “Firewise Community”
Wildfires are a fact of life in North Carolina, resulting in millions of dollars in property damage and impacts to humans and wildlife every year.
We can mitigate wildfire risks in selecting building materials, landscape plants, and mulch. We can remove yard debris, clean roofs and gutters, thin trees and shrubs and trim deadwood. We can keep our plantings and lawns watered during hot dry weather. These efforts help to create a “defensible space” around our homes to reduce potential fire damage.
St. James became a “Firewise USA Community” in 2003. Our St. James Firewise Committee works closely with the St. James Fire Department, the Developer, the Property Owners Association (POA), the St. James Emergency Management team, and county and state officials to identify and address risks and maintain our Firewise certification.

The Town of St. James Homer E. Wright Event Center (formerly Community Center) is a beautiful facility that can accommodate large and small groups for a variety of social activities and entertainment purposes. The Wright Event Center includes meeting rooms, an arts and craft room, and a large multi-purpose room. The facility is designed to serve as an amenity for the residents and property owners of St. James at minimal or no cost. Groups and organizations outside of St. James can also rent the facility. Charges for use of the facility are in accordance with the Fee Schedule approved by Town Council.

• Generator Installation (Does require POA/ACC Approval);
• Porch Conversion (Does require POA/ACC Approval);
• A project that does not change the footprint of the property.
